What is a Shaft Joint?

The shaft is a transmission mechanism that transfers the movement power it receives from the engine to the differential. This mechanism, which was produced using steel as a material, is produced in a hollow form. It is ensured that the shaft is well balanced so that it is not affected by vibration and can resist central forces during high speed rotation. The joint refers to the mechanical part that connects the shaft to the gearbox and the differential. This part provides flexibility to the shaft during the use of the vehicle, and ensures that the power from the engine is transferred to the wheels.

Shafts may show malfunction in some cases. One of the most obvious situations here is hearing abnormal sounds from the shaft. Vibrating sounds are felt during the movement with the vehicle, and a pulsing sound is heard during the vehicle's starting and braking. For this reason, support should be obtained from the technical service in such conditions. These are the faults seen in the shafts. Shaft Runout and Unbalance This can happen if the shaft has just been replaced in your vehicle, has just been repaired, or if the bottom part has hit the ground. The fault is that vibrations increase in the chassis part of the vehicle as the speed increases, especially when the vehicle is in motion. In this case, the runout of the shaft should be measured, if it exceeds 0.8 mm, the shaft should be replaced. Shaft Bearing Noise If you hear noises coming from the underside while your vehicle is in motion, it indicates problems with grease deterioration or leakage in the shaft bearing. If you replace the middle link bearing on the shaft in this regard, the fault will be resolved. Vibrating Sound If you hear vibrating sounds while your vehicle is in motion, it indicates situations such as one or all of these joints making a gap or breaking down. Deterioration of Shaft Joints If you hear a knocking sound while your vehicle is moving or in a sudden brake, it means that your shaft joints are problematic. In this case, if the joints are removed first and then the Bobbin bearing and Lobster body are replaced, the fault will be resolved.
